The History of Podere Selvatici

THE HISTORY OF PODERE SELVATICI

Podere Selvatici and the lands that welcome it boast a history that dates back to before the seventeenth century.

Already in 1623, a notary documented the presence of the Selvatici family in Imola’s surroundings; the family, for almost three centuries, lived within the property and managed the land and farm, which are now hosting our structure, but during that time belonged to the Abbey of Santa Maria in Regola

Carlo Selvatici and his brothers are also mentioned in the 1809 Napoleonic land registry as owners of “Casa Nuova”.
Our structure was historically the second home of the Selvatici family, a farmhouse employed for agricultural use and simultaneously that has been lived and handed down in inheritance to the different generations of the Selvatici family.

The family's coat-of-arms that names the estate traced back in numerous testamentary acts, within which the noble emblem of the Selvatici family is described and represented through a picture of "a hare, three trees, three stars, and its outline".

The historical importance of our structure represents a fundamental element precisely for this reason: the architectural renewal achieved in Podere Selvatici weaves its contemporary design nature within the plots of an ancient building which, since 1791, has been transformed from a farm to a family farmhouse, and finally, into an accommodation facility.
